Potz Systems

Description

POTZ SYSTEMS

Potz Systems design and manufacture the most innovative and original, hydroponics and aeroponics growing systems for indoor plant cultivation and they have a great selection to choose from, starting from a DWC or Drip 1 Potz System right up to a whopping Drip 60 Potz System.

The companies leading designer has over twenty years experience with hydroponics and also twelve years experience as a pipe fitter for air conditioning and ventilation. This combined experience enables him to come up with some original ideas for growing systems that are easy to set up and use and will also provide you with some really great results.

MANUFACTURING

Potz Systems are manufactured right here in the UK and they are all made with precision tooling to provide good clean holes and cuts on all parts. This makes installation easy and also prevents any leaks occuring once they are assembled and in use.

Aero and DWC Potz Systems are manufactured with 21 litre black buckets which are made from a food grade polymer, to a BRC standard. These are perfect for containing the roots and concealing them from any light.

Drip Potz Systems have specially moulded stands and saucers which are designed to elevate your pots. This allows for a fitting and pipe to be connected below so any excess solution that runs into the saucer can drain very quickly, to allow your pots to dry out slightly before their next watering.

Potz Systems are all supplied with a yellow hose which is Torsino NTS, a knot free kink resistant flexible PVC braided hose. The black inner lining is an anti algae, U.V. and non toxic food grade hose.

TIMING EQUIPMENT

When feeding your plants daily in a growing system it is essential to have control with the amount of nutrient solution they receive, so their Aero and Drip Potz Systems (exc 1 Potz) are all supplied with a Grasslin plug timer and an Ecotechnics minute timer. This allows you to precisely control the feed times and the amount of nutrient solution that is delivered to the plants daily. The Ecotechnics minute timer is a very reliable unit that offers you 16 settings for your On period, ranging from 1 minute up to 16 minutes and also 16 settings for your Off period, ranging from 15 minutes right up to 4 hours. The Grasslin segmental timer is also a very reliable plug timer and is easily set with the pins pulled out. Each pin will keep the unit on for 15 minutes, so all you do is set it to the same amount of time as your lights and the Ecotechnics minute timer will control the feed pumps On and Off times during this period. Both these timers have been on the UK market for many years now and have proven to be very reliable, but if unfortunately a unit did fail it wouldnt cost you a small fortune to replace.

DRAIN FILTERS

Potz Systems are all designed and fitted with filters to prevent any root growth or debris from entering any of the drain pipes on the systems and blocking them. This is done with their specially made filters that are fitted on all systems, even the 1 Potz. Aero and DWC Potz Systems have an internal drain filter fitted over the drain pipe that leads out of each grow pot and their Drip Potz Systems have a filter screen fitted into the moulded saucers to stop any unwanted growing media or roots entering the drain pipes. The material used for both filters is a fine HDPE plastic mesh, which does the job perfectly.

AERO & DRIP POTZ RE-CIRCULATE OR RUN TO WASTE

Aero and Drip Potz Systems can re-circulate your nutrient solution or they can also run it to waste if preferred. The Header Return Potz is fitted with a float switch that is connected to an MJ pump, so as the level of solution rises in the pot it automatically turns on the MJ pump to take the excess solution away. The pipe that is fitted to the MJ pump can be directed back into the main reservoir to re-circulate the solution, or it can be placed into another tank or nearby drain to run the excess solution to waste.

DWC POTZ RE-CIRCULATE

DWC Potz Systems are active deep water culture systems that can re-circulate the nutrient solution around the system, either permanently or at timed intervals. An MJ pump is fitted into the Header Potz and it is connected to irrigation pipes that lead back into each grow pot, this allows the nutrient solution to be pumped from the Header Potz to re-circulate all around the system back into each grow pot and it also makes it easier for you to make adjustments to your solution if needed.

The Header Potz is also fitted with another MJ pump that allows you to drain the system down quickly back into your main reservoir or to just simply drain it away. The main reservoir has an MJ pump fitted as well to allow you to easily fill the system once you have mixed your solution. These two pumps do not need to be plugged into a timer, they can just be used when you want to drain the system or refill it.

PLUG & PLAY

Potz Systems are all designed as plug and play, so all you need to do is simply follow the instructions that are provided and assemble them together, there is no cutting or drilling of any parts required.

AERO POTZ SYSTEMS - HOW THEY WORK

Aero Potz Systems are designed for one thing only and that is to maximise your crops potential.

Aero Potz aeroponic systems are designed to support your plants in the mesh pots that are fitted into the top lids of the potz, so your plants can grow above and the roots can grow below, concealed inside. The roots will quickly exit the mesh pot so they can be totally suspended in the air, in total darkness and sprayed at minute timed intervals with a nutrient rich solution.

The nutrient solution is stored in the main reservoir and it is aerated by an air pump and stone to keep the solution mixed well and highly oxygenated. The main feed pump is also placed into the reservoir and it is controlled by the Grasslin timer and Ecotechnics minute timer to give you far more accuracy with your feeding times. The nutrient solution is pumped into the main irrigation line and through an inline filter that prevents any tank debris entering the irrigation system, this filter can and should be removed regularly and cleaned to allow the nutrient solution to flow easily through the lines to feed the plants.

Once the nutrient solution has passed through the filter it continues on through the main line which then has fittings connected directly in front of each potz for much smaller irrigation feed lines to connect to them, this reduction in pipe size also greatly increases the flow of the solution to the sprinkler delivery system.

The nutrient solution now travels up to the top lids and splits into two feed lines which connect to the two inverted sprinklers mounted below the lids. The inverted micro sprinklers give just the right size droplet of solution sprayed over the roots, not too big and not too small. The sprinklers are mounted either side of the mesh pots to give total coverage on the root system that is suspended below, this design also prevents any root entanglement with the delivery system.

The nutrient solution can then drain quickly from the inner potz and into the outer potz to return to the main tank and keep the roots totally suspended in the air and not submerged into any solution. Drain filters are fitted inside each outer potz to prevent any roots or debris entering the drain pipes and blocking them.

When the nutrient solution drains and enters the Header Return Potz it will lift a float switch and automatically turn on a pump, which are both fitted inside. The nutrient solution can then be directed with the pipe to either return it back into the main tank to re-circulate or it can be directed to another tank or drain and run to waste.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to regularly clean the inline filter from the feed pump to ensure the correct flow of nutrient solution is allowed through.

DRIP POTZ SYSTEMS - HOW THEY WORK

Drip Potz Systems are the most versatile active hydroponics top feed drip system available. They are designed to be used with any growing pot, round or square, Root Pouch's or Air Pots and with any growing media you choose to use. Drip Potz Systems also allow you to easily view the run-off from each pot to ensure your plants are being watered correctly and evenly and you can either re-circulate your nutrient solution back into the main reservoir or it can be run to waste into another tank or drain.

The nutrient solution is stored in the main reservoir and is pumped and delivered to your plants at minute timed intervals, with the use of a Grasslin timer and an Ecotechnics minute timer, which are both supplied, (exc 1 Potz). As the solution is pumped into the main irrigation line it passes through an inline filter. This filter is fitted to prevent any debris entering your main line and your smaller irrigation lines and blocking them and it should be removed and cleaned regularly to ensure your nutrient solution passes through without any resistance to its flow.

Once through the filter the solution enters the main line and disperses to each pot through smaller feed lines that are connected to the main line. It then travels up the feed lines to the pots and each line then splits into two feed lines with two drippers fitted, to place into your chosen media.

Gravity will now draw the nutrient solution down through the media to feed the roots and any excess solution can simply drain from the pot and run into the specially moulded saucer. A filter screen is placed in each saucer with your pot sat on top to prevent any media or debris entering the drain pipes below and blocking them, the filters can be removed easily and cleaned when required.

The specially moulded stands raise the moulded saucers off the ground enough for a fitting and pipe to be connected below the saucer, this allows for all the excess solution to drain completely from the saucer to allow your media and plant roots to dry slightly before the next watering, there are no puddles left in the saucers at all.

The drain pipes from each Potz Stand are connected together in rows which lead to the Header Return Potz for the solution to escape. The Header Return Potz is fitted with a pump and a float switch, which are both connected to an electrical box fitted on the outside of the Header Return Potz, this can be plugged into the mains and left on permanently as it will require very little power when in use. As the excess solution enters the Header Return Potz from the drain pipes and lifts the float switch, it will automatically turn on the pump to remove the excess nutrient solution from the growing system and re-circulate it back into the main reservoir or it can be run to waste.

If the system is to be used as a run to waste system, simply remove the return pipe from the reservoir and place it into another reservoir or nearby drain.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to regularly clean the inline filter from the feed pump to ensure the correct flow of nutrient solution is allowed through.

DWC POTZ SYSTEMS - HOW THEY WORK

DWC Potz Systems are active deep water culture hydroponic systems that are designed to re-circulate the nutrient solution around the system permanently or at timed intervals and with a constant supply of bubbles pumped into the water, your roots and plant will love it.

Once you have filled the main reservoir with water and mixed your nutrients in, you can then pump the solution into the system ready for growing. A pump is fitted into the main reservoir to pump the nutrient solution through an inline filter and into the main Header Potz. This main pot is connected to all the other DWC Potz with fittings and pipe at the bottom, so as the Header Potz is filled with the nutrient solution gravity will level it out through the pipes and into each DWC Potz.

In the Header Potz is a pump fitted which is connected to a main irrigation line which runs between the rows of DWC Potz. This main line has smaller irrigation lines fitted to it so the solution can be pumped back into each DWC Potz to re-circulate the solution around the system and with a drain filter fitted inside each Potz, it prevents anything blocking the pipes and affecting the systems performance.

There is also another pump fitted inside the Header Potz to allow you to drain the system easily and return the nutrient solution back into the main tank for adjustments. If it is only small adjustments that are required it is easier and quicker to make them as the solution re-circulates around the system to save draining down and refilling, you do not need to drain and flood these systems daily as these systems are designed for deep water culture. No timing equipment is required for DWC Potz Systems unless you want to re-circulate the solution around the system at timed intervals rather than permanently, then one 15 minute plug timer will do.

The pumps for filling and draining the system do not need to be plugged into a timer, they can just be used when you want to drain the system or refill it.

The air supplied into each DWC Potz is delivered from a main air pump that is connected to a main line which also runs between the rows of pots. The main air line has smaller clear air lines connected to it, which lead off into each DWC Potz at the top and connects to an air stone placed inside the bottom of the Potz. Running the air pump continuously maintains high levels of oxygen in your nutrient solution, which allows the plant roots to have access to water, air and nutrients at all times and this is the main reason for this method of hydroponics working so well.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to regularly clean the inline filter from the main pump in the reservoir to ensure the flow of nutrient solution is allowed through when filling the system.
